The Daily Reporter 2026 Women in Construction Awards – Unsung Hero of the Year, Wendy Phalin.
Wendy Phalin’s title is Director of Accounting at Berghammer, but she does so much more than accounting. Her responsibilities also include payroll, information systems management and coordination, software licensing, coordinating annual employee health screenings, and organizing both the company’s annual Holiday Party and summer Zoo outing. Those a few examples of the many responsibilities she manages behind the scenes.
Throughout her career, Wendy has consistently gone above and beyond her formal responsibilities. She leads initiatives, provides thoughtful and practical guidance, and willingly steps in to solve problems and move the business forward. She has successfully trained and mentored her accounting associate and provides daily guidance to project teams and staff across the company.
Wendy’s career at Berghammer is a testament to growth, dedication, and leadership. She joined the company on July 8, 1996, as an accountant and was promoted to Controller in 2007. In 2012, she was promoted to Director of Accounting in recognition of her significant contributions to the company. Wendy soon joined Berghammer’s Executive Management Team (EMT) and has since been recognized by leadership, joining the Associate Program in January 2018 and the Senior Associate Program in January 2024.
Her career at Berghammer is a testament to dedication, leadership, and setting a great example of a successful woman in construction. Congratulations Wendy, on this well-deserved honor – you are a rock star and we look forward to celebrating with you!
