At Berghammer, community outreach means more than just being a good corporate citizen. We simply find that giving back makes us feel more connected, energized and good about who we are. Our outreach commitments range from individual employees’ organization involvements, to community service in Ecuador, to philanthropy to family resource centers and more.
A few of the recent works and projects include:
Block Build MKE
As part of Revitalize Milwaukee, the Block Build program provides critically needed construction services to residents in some of Milwaukee’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Block Build’s 2018 goal was to provide 300 volunteers to complete extensive repairs, safety and accessibility modifications to 20 homes in 48 hours. Berghammer’s staff was proud to contribute their time, energy, skills and weekend to make a difference in the lives of the Clark Street neighborhood residents.
The Guest House
Berghammer expanded and renovated The Guest House in Milwaukee. The Guest House provides shelter, food, and support to those in need. Simply, The Guest House is about keeping families together and restoring dignity and purpose. Berghammer encourages you to take a 50-second glimpse into lives being touched by The Guest House, and hope you will support their mission. Celebrating the Trades & Planting the Seeds for Careers
Berghammer partners with Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) on their “Be The Spark” educational program for MPS 7th-grade students which exposes them to careers in construction. Berghammer project managers, field superintendents and company leaders present a program outlining construction jobs, educational requirements and career pathing. The students learn about a range of jobs in the construction industry through Q&A on an active job site with trades people in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, and drywall. Teachers and students leave with an understanding of the skills, training and education essential for success in these careers.
Aurora Walk to Tackle Cancer
The “Berghammer Brigade” sponsors and participates in the Aurora Walk To Tackle Cancer. The event is a 5K run/walk at the Summerfest grounds on Festa Italiana weekend.
Outreach in Ecuador
Annually, Berghammer President, Jim Parks, joins several members of St. Mary’s Parish in Elm Grove and Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon, on a Minga to Ecuador. A Minga is a community service project that brings together local residents to complete a large job.
