At Berghammer, community outreach means more than just being a good corporate citizen. We simply find that giving back makes us feel more connected, energized and good about who we are. Our outreach commitments range from individual employees’ organization involvements, to community service in Ecuador, to philanthropy to family resource centers and more.

Berghammer employees rally around another worthy cause

Many of us feel especially moved at Christmas time by the needs of so many people whose circumstances are unfortunate and even desperate, making it hard for them to enter into the celebration of the season.

Leif Nesheim, CEO, led a campaign in reaching out to an agency that does wonderful, life-enriching work for some of the most desperate among us. In Leif’s words:

“I felt we needed to do something beyond the normal Holiday giving. We had been giving money to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission for Thanksgiving dinners, and I decided to go see the place for myself. What a wonderful experience! I was greeted by the Executive Director,  Patrick Vanderburgh, and his wife, Barbara, and received a full tour of the facilities. I learned they serve meals and/or provide shelter to almost 500 persons each day… adult men and women, as well as children of all ages, even incorporating a school for K-4 through 6th grade. There is so much more MRM does to make a difference in the lives of those who have run out of options.”

Leif’s passion ignited a campaign among Berghammer employees to do something above and beyond the charitable causes already supported by many employees. Our drive to collect items of basic needs netted 20 winter jackets, two dozen pillows, 20 pairs of gloves, 16 hats, 25 sweaters…and more!!!

What joy we felt in delivering those items to the grateful staff at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission!

Berghammer Employees Celebrate Christmas with Residents of Highland Gardens

All people share the same hopes, dreams and joys, and a group of Berghammer employees and their families were reminded of that when they joined residents of the Highland Gardens public housing project to share a Christmas celebration.

Berghammer families made cookies, brought small personal items purchased for inclusion in gift packages for residents and joined together for a time of singing, sharing Christmas memories and producing artwork for the Christmas card. It’s hard to say who was more blessed by the experience: The residents or the Berghammer families, but everyone went away smiling!
